Lost your temper at home? Free help for that moment.
Updated September 2026
Every parent shouts sometimes. Usually it happens when you are already running on empty, and afterwards it sits heavy. Everything on this page is free, needs no sign-up, and is made for real evenings with real children.
When you feel it coming
- Two-minute breathing. Two breaths in, one long breath out, five rounds. Nothing to sign up for, nothing saved.
- A cup falls. A short illustrated story about what happens in your body in the seconds before you snap.
- Unsent. Type the thing you would never say out loud. It stays on your screen and then it goes.
Afterwards
- I shouted at my child. What now? A plain guide to putting things right.
- Apologising to a three-year-old, and why it helps.
- Will my child remember? For when you are lying awake after a bad evening.
When it keeps happening
- How to stop shouting at your kids, from a parent who gets why you start.
- Why scripts fail when you are flooded, and what to do instead.
- Why the same battle keeps happening, and where to make one small change.
Call 999, or the Samaritans on 116 123, free, day and night. The NSPCC helpline for adults is 0808 800 5000.
For school staff
If your website has a page of wellbeing or support links for families, you are welcome to add this one. Here is a ready-made entry. Copy it as it is, or change the words to suit your page.
Lenio: free help for hard moments at home
Free resources for parents who lose their temper and want to do things differently: a two-minute breathing page, a short illustrated story about what happens before we shout, and plain guides on putting things right with your child afterwards. No sign-up needed.
Who made this
Lenio was made by Hom, a Bristol parent. Everything linked above is free. Lenio also has paid parts: an AI conversation companion for parents (the first conversation is free, then £10 a month for those who continue) and a short course. Some of the guides invite parents to try the conversation. Nothing on this page asks anyone to pay.
Safeguarding and data
- It is made for parents and carers. It is not designed for children, so please share it with adults only.
- It is not therapy or a crisis service. It does not diagnose a parent or a child.
- Crisis routes are built in. If a parent writes to Lenio about someone being in danger, it gives them 999, the Samaritans and the NSPCC helpline for adults. Lenio is an AI and can get things wrong, so it never replaces your school's own safeguarding procedures.
- The breathing page, the story and Unsent save nothing. Anything typed in Unsent stays in the browser and is never sent to Lenio.
- Conversations without an account are deleted after seven days. Account holders can delete everything with one tap.
- No advertising and no data sales. The full detail is in Privacy, plainly.
