What Lenio keeps
Before Lenio asks for your email, the setup answers stay in this browser and expire after seven days if you do not continue. They are sent to Lenio's server only when you ask for your private link. Your seven free days begin when you open that link.
Your email address, which signs you in and is never shown to anyone else. Your first name, and your children as you describe them, in your words. Your conversations, the things in play this week, and the small trail of taps that makes the app work.
If an advert brought you here, Lenio keeps the name of that campaign too, a short label like google, so it knows which adverts are worth paying for.
No advertising identifiers, no tracking across other websites, nothing bought from or sold to anyone.
Lenio measures which pages are visited and which steps of signup are reached, using self-hosted, first-party analytics on our own server; no third-party trackers, no advertising identifiers, and never the content of your conversations.
If you answer an optional research question, Lenio stores that answer on its own server with your account so the small product team can learn from themes across parents. Research answers never go into analytics, AI prompts, or model training, and your words are never published without asking you separately.
What happens when you talk
Lenio's replies are written by AI, using OpenAI or Anthropic. The conversation you are having goes to the provider writing the reply, along with your first name and the notes Lenio keeps. AI also checks for serious safety concerns and writes the short notes Lenio remembers. We do not include your account email or payment details in those requests.
These providers do not use API conversations to train their models by default. Lenio turns off OpenAI's saved-response storage. Providers may still retain data for a limited period for security and abuse monitoring, or where required by law; this is separate from Lenio's own conversation record.
Breathe and Unsent
These tools run in your browser, and anything you type in Unsent stays on your screen until you burn it or leave; it is never sent to Lenio or saved in browser storage.
We count tool use, broad word-count ranges and optional yes-or-no course answers, never your words, and remember a course answer in session storage only to avoid asking again.
Your parenting quiz
When you complete the quiz, Lenio saves your six answers, result, quiz version and completion date on our server. The Lenio team can review these to understand what parents need and improve the service.
If you create an account and we can link your quiz to it, we attach those answers and result to your account.
We keep quizzes without an account for 12 months. Quizzes linked to an account are deleted with the account.
We count starts, completed steps, result views and sharing actions, and collect an optional helpfulness vote. Those events contain no quiz answers or result labels.
You see the exact card before sharing it. It includes only the broad result and its short description, not your private pressure answer or what you would like help with. The quiz link opens a fresh quiz for the recipient.
Only the opening words you choose to send go into this conversation. Your saved quiz answers and result aren’t included. Conversations follow the privacy terms below.
If you chat from Tonight
You can talk before creating an account. Your link back to that unsigned conversation works for seven days. If you choose the free seven days, the conversation moves into your account only after you open the secure link sent to your email. If you do not continue, Lenio keeps the unsigned conversation on its own server. To have it removed, write to us. If you gave your email to keep a line from the chat, we can find it from that. If not, tell us roughly when you talked and how it began.
Lenio reads these chats to improve how it replies and to learn what parents need help with. Their words stay out of our marketing and out of anything we publish. Access is limited to the people who build Lenio.
Tips by email
If you sign up for tips on an article, we keep your email address, the article you signed up from, and any ad click ids from your visit. We use them to send you the free lesson first, then an occasional short tip, and one email when the Before the shout course opens on Monday 30 November.
Every email has an unsubscribe link, and one tap stops them. We never share your address.
How Lenio remembers
When you start a new conversation, Lenio uses short notes from earlier conversations about what mattered: what is in play, what you are trying, what helped. It does not send your whole conversation history. If you continue an existing conversation, its messages go with your next reply. Lenio keeps the conversation record in its own database, with provider processing as described above.
Where it all lives
Lenio's database is on our own server in the EU, encrypted on the way there and back. AI requests are processed by the providers described above; we do not promise that their processing stays in the EU. Payments are handled by Stripe; your card number never touches Lenio and Lenio never sends Stripe anything about your family beyond your email address. Our email service delivers your sign-in links and knows only your address.
The one exception
If a conversation raises a serious safety concern, a human reviews that conversation. Outside that safety process, conversation words are not read by people. If you separately choose to answer an optional research question, the small Lenio product team may read that answer only to improve Lenio.
Deleting everything
One tap in your account deletes your whole family's story from Lenio's database: conversations, research answers, what's in play, everything. It is permanent and takes effect straight away. Any provider security retention follows the provider's policy. Unsigned Tonight chats are kept until you ask us to remove them. A returning parent's sign-in link expires after 15 minutes; the first link after setup expires after 48 hours.
Your rights, and who we are
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or complain to the ICO if we ever let you down. Lenio is made by Recursively Curious Ltd, company number 16981626, registered in England and Wales. Write to hello@lenio.fyi and a human answers.
